weETH is ether.fi's liquid restaking token. It represents ETH that's staked and then restaked via EigenLayer — securing additional protocols beyond Ethereum itself in exchange for extra yield — wrapped into a single non-rebasing, DeFi-ready token. It plays a similar role to wstETH, but for the newer restaking layer rather than plain staking. weETH represents ETH staked through ether.fi and also restaked through EigenLayer, so it earns Ethereum staking rewards plus rewards from securing additional services. That stacking of yield also stacks risk: restaking exposes the same collateral to additional slashing conditions defined by services the staker may not have examined individually. It is the clearest example on this map of a token where headline yield and underlying risk have both been layered, and understanding that is more useful than any price observation about it.
What is restaking?
Using already-staked ETH to also secure additional services, earning extra rewards while accepting the additional slashing conditions those services define.
Why is stacked yield also stacked risk?
Each service the collateral secures adds its own conditions under which that collateral can be penalised. The yield is visible upfront; the combined risk is harder to assess.
What does weETH represent?
ETH staked through ether.fi and restaked, in a fixed-balance wrapped form suitable for use in DeFi contracts.
Does it track ETH?
Closely, since it is a claim on ether, with a value that drifts upward relative to ETH as rewards accrue.
Market cap decides how big a bubble is drawn, so rank is what places WEETH on the map relative to the rest of its sector.
